Our project pricing is based on the following:
- The number of words in your source documents
- The language combination
- The need for express or emergency turnaround times
- The complexity of the legal language and subject matter
- The integrity and readability of your source documents
- The need for special desktop publishing services
- Discounts for client-specific glossaries
- Discounts for repeat content
Word Counts
We use the word counts we find in your source documents. It is common to charge for text expansion; however, we only charge you for the actual number of words found in your source documents.
Language Combinations
Language combinations with rare languages tend to be more costly. A translation from English to Spanish will probably cost less than a translation from English to Zulu.
Express and Emergency Turnaround Times
We offer accelerated turnaround times. Express Service allows you to receive your translation in half the time it takes for our regular service. Emergency Service allows you to receive your translation within 24 hours. The fees for Express and Emergency services depend on the complexity of your project. The average turnaround time is 2,000 words per day; and our maximum capacity is around 100,000 words per day.
Language Complexity
A French employee hiring form will be less difficult to translate than an engineering patent written in Japanese, and prices will reflect this difference.
Source Document Integrity
The best document to send us is a clearly written Word for Windows document. Clear PDFs are fine, too. Unclear faxes, images, and PDFs will require more handling and may - not always - incur a special handling fee.
Desktop Publishing (DTP)
We are able to handle any document in any format. If you require publish-ready documents produced in programs such as Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress, a DTP fee may be assessed. Please note, however, that your document will be handled by certified DTP specialists and will conform to your most exacting requirements.
Discounts for Client-Specific Glossaries
We will build a glossary of terms that are common to your specific projects. Each time you send us a project to translate, we will add unique terms and phrases to your glossary. When we price out a new project, words and phrases that appear in your glossary will not be charged. The more projects we handle for you, the less your projects will cost.
Discounts for Repeat Content
All projects, regardless of the presence of a client-specific glossary, will receive a discount for terms and phrases that repeat throughout the project. You only pay once for any terms or phrases that are repeated in your source documents. The larger your project is, the more likely you will receive discounts for repeat content.
Billing
With some exceptions, projects under $5,000 require full payment in advance and projects over $5,000 require a 70% launch fee. Any remainder is due upon project completion. Good standing clients can be billed on a monthly basis.
